What You Will Be Doing:

This position plays an integral part in keeping vulnerable adult Alaskans safe. In this position you will be Screen/assessing APS (Reports of Harm) for determination of priority response, allegation type, handling, and assignment; Screen/assessing the severity of the circumstance according to Adult Protective Services policies and procedures; Obtain and document detailed information from reporters concerning the alleged maltreatment of vulnerable adults; Document all information in the Adult Protective Services case management system; and Process requests for referrals and supportive service information.

The Working Environment You Can Expect:
This position is in East Anchorage next to East High School. Work hours can be flexible within the general state hours of operation.
This position does require the ability to travel within the state of Alaska by either automobile or aircraft in all weather conditions.

Teleworking is an option after an initial training period.

“Typically gained by” means the prevalent, usual method of gaining the competencies expected for entry into the job.

“Training” and “education” in this guidance are synonyms for the process of acquiring knowledge and skills through instruction. It includes instruction through formal and informal methods (such as classroom, online, self-study, and on-the-job), from accredited and unaccredited sources, and long-duration (such as a post-secondary degree) and short-duration (such as a seminar) programs.

“Progressively responsible” means indicating growth and/or advancement in complexity, difficulty, or level of responsibility.

“Professional experience” means work that is creative, analytical, evaluative, and interpretive; requires a range and depth of specialized knowledge of the profession's principles, concepts, theories, and practices; and is performed with the power or right to decide or act according to one's own judgment.

Additional Required Information

At the time of the interview, please provide the following:

  • A copy of academic transcripts (unofficial are okay; please ensure that the institution name/URL is listed on the transcripts) is used to verify that you meet the minimum qualifications, if not already provided in the application.
  • Copies of your two (2) most recent performance evaluations, if available. If unavailable, two supervisory letters of reference may be substituted
  • Three (3) professional references we may contact by phone, one (1) of which must be a current or former supervisor, if not already provided in the application.

The State of Alaska uses four proficiency levels to measure and describe an applicant’s level of competence in applying certain behaviors, knowledge, skills, and abilities to accomplish a specific task. The four proficiency levels are Mastery, Fluency, Literacy, and Discovery. You must rate your proficiency level for each competency listed in the supplemental questions.

EDUCATION

To verify education is being used to meet and/or support the required minimum qualifications/competencies, you must fill in the Education section of the application. If you have not obtained a degree, please indicate the number of units completed. Copies of transcripts are required to verify educational credentials used to meet or support the minimum qualifications/competencies for a position and are required with each application. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
