Job Description

ATTENTION ALASKA RESIDENTS ONLY!

The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) Program Management and Administration is looking for a Federal-Aid Manager (Transportation Planner 2) to help us Keep Alaska Moving!

What you will be doing :

Under the direction of the Program Management Chief, the incumbent supervises the federal-aid program and staff. This position is for someone who desires to work with a purpose and a commitment to "Keep Alaska Moving" every day. This position manages and programs federal funding to state programs and capital projects, appropriately coordinates federal funds management with the state's capital budget and state legislative authority, and makes federal funds eligibility determinations and recommendations to management.

This position assists in managing and coordinating all aspects of federal funds management and requirements, including but not limited to : programming funds within the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP), managing and processing federal-aid agreement starts, modifications, and final vouchers through FMIS. This position works with department staff across the state and across divisions.

The incumbent is also a key liaison between the Department and the Federal Highway Administration and other federal funding agencies, and in coordinating, collaborating and aligning municipal and state efforts within Title 23 guidelines for beneficial outcomes to the state's use of federal funds.

This position is located in Juneau, Alaska. Once hired and incumbent has permanent status, with supervisor approval, this position is appropriate for in-state teleworking.

  • Equivalent to those typically gained by :

  • Post-secondary education in urban, regional, transportation, or landscape planning;
  • AND / OR

    Experience in environmental, transportation, or community development; architecture; civil engineering; landscape architecture; urban design; historic preservation; geography; geographic information systems; housing administration; grant administration; accounting; business management; or research. This experience should include some combination of the design of research projects, setting standards for technical adequacy, and / or coordinating the planning contributions of lower level planners or other agencies, multi-modal transportation planning, and / or Capital Improvement Program (CIP) development and control.
