Section 1 Special Selection Factor(s)-the Following Is Required
Employees must currently be a Correctional Officer II with the Arizona Department of Corrections Rehabilitation & Reentry and have worked a minimum of 12 months at their current division/institution.
Requires possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver's license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver's license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12.).

Section 2 Selective Preference(s)
The ideal candidate will have experience working with Community Supervision staff, release issues, and/or the criminal justice system. Proficiency in the use of ACIS (Arizona Correctional Information System); working knowledge of and use of Microsoft Word and Excel documents. Radio communication skills are helpful.

Job Duties
Works closely with released offenders who reside at the Pima Reentry Center (henceforth referred to as residents). These positions require staff who have the ability to adapt to change quickly and are flexible and balanced in their approach to resident management. Residents participate in various programs and require supervision, mentoring, interactions, and encouragement. The COII's role is to change the way residents see them at the facility, build trust, and offer assistance as the residents progress. COII's shall be assigned to shifts, be required to purchase alternate uniforms, and attend specialized training.

Some positions require a medical/physical evaluation, psychological examination, pre-employment drug screening, and a background investigation prior to appointment. In an effort to maintain a safe environment, all employees are required to take a Tuberculosis (TB) test during their New Employee Orientation and every year thereafter.

- PERFORMANCE EVALUATION - Must receive a rating of meets expectations or better.
- VOLUNTARY DEMOTIONS - Employees accepting a voluntary demotion shall be required to remain in the classification/position requested for a period of at least two years before being considered for appointment to any other position. Voluntary demotion applicants must have an approved voluntary demotion memo on file with the Central Promotional Register to be considered for a job offer. No job offers will be made without an approved voluntary demotion. The job offer will be made to the next available candidate.
- DEMOTIONS (DISCIPLINARY) - Any employee who has been demoted one level shall be ineligible to apply for a promotional opportunity for two years from the date of the demotion. If demoted more than one level, the employee shall be ineligible to apply for a promotional opportunity for three years from the date of the demotion. A demotion received after the promotional process has started and prior to the promotion shall result in the permanent removal from that CPR. Once removed from a CPR for a demotion, the applicant shall not be eligible to compete for a Correctional Officer Series position until two or three years, depending on the number of levels demoted, after the date of the demotion. The first day served of the demotion shall be considered the effective date of the demotion.
