Serves as the chief and highest-level legal advisor to the Federal Receiver appointed by the United States District Court in the case of Plata v. Brown, working in conjunction with the balance of the Executive Staff of the California Correctional Health Care Services (CCHCS) regarding the most sensitive and complex legal matters related to the development and implementation of a valid, new and sustainable system that provides constitutionally-adequate health care to incarcerated patients housed inside and outside California. The Director and Chief Counsel leads a staff of multi-disciplinary professionals in the legal office, including attorneys.

Special Requirements

Candidate must be an active member of the State Bar of California with broad and extensive experience in the practice of law (preferably more than six years legal experience acquired after admission to the State Bar).

Possession of Minimum Qualifications (MQ) will be verified prior to interview and / or appointment. If you are meeting MQ's with education, you must include your unofficial transcripts / diploma for verification. Official transcripts may be required upon appointment. If it is determined an applicant does not meet the MQ's, the candidate will be withheld from the eligibility list, rendering them inactive and ineligible to be hired for the position.
