Teleworking employees may be required to report to their headquarters office location on designated telework days. Travel expenses are not reimbursed, however other authorized transit subsidies do exist for those who qualify.
The Information Technology Specialist II plays an important role in safeguarding the valuable information and data assets of the California Department of Insurance (CDI). Reporting to the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), the Specialist offers a high level of technical expertise and oversight in the development, implementation, and maintenance of information security policies and controls. This includes the preparation of essential documentation pertaining to ongoing information security risk assessments, policies and controls and enhancing CDI's compliance with federal and state cybersecurity mandates, with added focus on Artificial Intelligence, Zero Trust architectures, and Data Security.
The role encompasses a wide array of responsibilities spanning compliance, validation, documentation, risk mitigation, and monitoring of CDI's cybersecurity compliance program. This involves assessing and executing measures to secure data, ensuring compliance with data protection laws and regulations, and formulating strategies to respond to and recover from data breaches. The Specialist will lead and / or participate in various activities related to incidence response, technology recovery documentation, vulnerability management, security awareness and training, among others.
The Specialist collaborates closely with members of the Information Technology Department (ITD), legal, and privacy teams to uphold a robust security posture for CDI.

Working Conditions
- Eligible for telework in accordance with CDIs Telework policy. Government Code 14200 for eligible applicants must reside in California.
