This position will be hybrid and required to work in the office 2 days a week.

The Benefit Payment Control (BPC) unit minimizes the number of Unemployment Insurance benefit overpayments for the citizens and employers of Colorado, provides superior service to both external and internal customers, and proactively develops innovative ways to conduct business to most effectively support the integrity of the UI Program.
BPC detection team monitors UI claims - past and present - to ensure benefits are properly paid. Through detection programs and benefits wage cross-match reports, new hire reports, tips and random audits, BPC establishes overpayments and, when applicable, identifies and prevents acts of fraud by both claimants and employers.
BPC recovery team runs a collection operation to recover overpaid funds in accordance with CESA and applicable policies and procedures, including assisting in interstate collection, evaluating bankruptcies for overpaid claims and waiving overpayments as necessary.
The Collections Representative position is responsible for the recovery of Unemployment Insurance overpayment debt. Position manages all aspects of debt collection, including making and responding to phone calls, answering correspondence, managing notices, notating accounts, determining ability to pay, establishing payment agreements, processing credit card payments, preparing paperwork for bankruptcies, reviewing financial summaries, following up on debtor requests, skip tracing, and recommending referrals for wage attachment and/or litigation.
When applicable the Collections Representative employee performs the same duties in Spanish.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience Only:Three (3) years of relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position
OR
Education and Experience:A combination of related education and/or relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned equal to three (3) years
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in Collections.
- Call Center experience
- Negotiation Skills
Required Competencies:
- Read, write and speak English and Spanish fluently
- Customer service skills
- Good communication Skills
- Phone etiquette
- General computer knowledge
- Google sheet and/or Excel knowledge
Conditions of Employment:
- Must be a Colorado resident at time of application.
- You must pass a thorough background check prior to employment.
Must be able to speak , write and read proficiently in the Spanish language
