COLORADO PARKS AND WILDLIFE (CPW)

MAINTENANCE TECH: Responsible for general park maintenance, cleaning of public facilities (including restrooms, vault toilet facilities, yurts, campsites, picnic areas, offices, trails and common areas, etc).
Operation and routine maintenance of state-owned vehicles and equipment will be required. The position assists in providing quality customer service, high standards of facility cleanliness and maintenance, and completion of special projects and tasks that may include but are not limited to: fence construction and maintenance, trail work and trail crew supervision, tree removal and firewood processing, weed removal, and dock and boating-related infrastructure management and maintenance. May assist with or perform carpentry, plumbing, masonry, electrical work, transporting equipment and supplies, backhoe, skid steer, dump truck and landscaping equipment operation, and other tasks as assigned.
- Staff the park entrance station.
- Provide information and assistance to visitors (distributes maps/ brochures, orients visitors to park facilities and amenities, promotes education programs, educates on State Park regulations, etc.).
- Sell parks passes, permits, books, maps, clothing, firewood and other novelties
- Sell gift certificates, search and rescue cards, boat registrations, Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) and snowmobile registrations and permits, and fishing and hunting licenses.
- Operate a cash register.
- Answer telephones and transfer/take messages.
- Photo-copy and file documents.
- Collect revenue, complete shift report, and balance shift box at end of each shift.
- May prepare campground reservations forms and documents.
- May document and report visitor complaints.
- Clean and perform light maintenance duties, including litter pick up.
- May assist with special events or programs within the park.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- This position requires operation of motorized vehicles, must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
- Willing to work outside, sometimes in inclement weather.
- Must be able to work various shifts, weekends and holidays.
- This position is up to 40 hours per week.
- School schedules MAY be accommodated.
- Must be able to lift 75-100 pounds repeatedly during the course of a single workday.
- Knowledge of use and maintenance of power tools, hand tools & other equipment preferred.
- First Aid and CPR certifications may be required.
- Must possess strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
- The park may provide some uniform items, however, employee may be required to purchase some items at their own expense.
- Preference may be given to applicants with or working towards a Natural Resources, Park and Recreation Management, or similar education.
- Must be 16 years of age or older.
- Must have a valid drivers' license or reliable transportation.
- Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and varied shifts.
- This position is up to 40 hours per week.

- Previous experience handling money and working with the public is helpful.
- Experience with data entry and word processing utilizing MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc).
- Possess strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work with little supervision.
- May be required to work the entrance station for an 8 hour shift and take lunch in the station.
- Some uniform items will be provided, however employees will be required to purchase limited uniform items at their own expense.
- Successful completion and passing of background screening may be required for placement in this position.
