THE POSITION
The State of Connecticut, Department of Public Health (DPH), is currently seeking enthusiastic and driven candidates to apply for the position of Connecticut Careers Trainee (Health Care Professional), Target Class of Epidemiologist 1 (Infectious/Chronic Diseases) (35 Hour). The individual hired into this position will report directly to the Epidemiologist 4 in the Office of Public Health Workforce Development. This individual will assist in the design, collection, analysis, and reporting of evaluation and performance metrics for public health workforce development activities at DPH, local health departments, non-profit agencies, and academic public health programs.
This Connecticut Careers Trainee Program is a developmental program designed to help people obtain the experience necessary to qualify for the designated target class of Epidemiologist 1 (Infectious/Chronic Diseases). The Connecticut Careers Trainee Program is for a minimum of 1 year to a maximum of 3 years and is based on how long it will take the candidate to meet the experience and training requirement of Epidemiologist 1 (Infectious/Chronic Diseases). Candidates must possess the general experience of the target class, Epidemiologist 1 (Infectious/Chronic Diseases), at the conclusion of the developmental program. The experience is: five (5) years of experience in a responsible technical or professional capacity in epidemiological investigations.

SALARY INFORMATION
- Starting Salary with a Bachelor's degree and/or qualifying experience: $47,708
- Starting Salary with a Master's degree: $49,427

As a Connecticut Careers Trainee (Health Care Professional) (Target Class: Epidemiologist 1 (Infectious/Chronic Diseases), you will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties:
- Assist in developing and monitoring program evaluation data and performance management metrics for the Office of Public Health Workforce Development, as required by the CDC grant.
- Assist with summarizing programmatic outcomes and net value of coordinated programs with the Office of Workforce Strategy and other partner agencies.
- Assist with measuring impacts from new and existing workforce development activities designed to increase recruitment, retention, and training for healthcare and public health workers.
- Assist with summarizing data from state and national public health workforce surveys.
- Working collaboratively with sub-grantee local health and academic partners to assist with evaluation processes and reporting metrics to be part of contract deliverables to DPH.
