Water Resource Management Specialist

Job Overview
The State of Connecticut is seeking a skilled Water Resource Management Specialist to join its team. As a key member of the Diadromous Inland Fisheries Program, you will play a vital role in restoring and conserving highly migratory species of fish that live in both fresh and salt water. Your primary responsibility will be to monitor selected sites across the state for diadromous fish species, record and download data at these sites, and troubleshoot monitoring equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with professional diadromous fish biologists to develop and implement effective conservation strategies;
• Conduct fieldwork to collect data on fish populations and habitats;
• Analyze data to inform conservation decisions;
• Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including local communities, fishermen, and other conservation organizations;
• Stay up-to-date with the latest research and best practices in aquatic ecology and conservation biology.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as aquatic biology, limnology, or environmental science;
• 1-2 years of experience in a related field, preferably with a focus on freshwater conservation;
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel throughout the state.
