Summary Statement
The Department of Labor (DOL) Communications Coordinator is the department spokesperson responsible for communicating agency messages to internal and external customers and educating and raising public awareness of services as well as processes and operations. The incumbent will supervise promotion of DOL programs and initiatives and manage department accomplishments through the media, public officials and communities, and any other means of communication.
Preferred Qualification
Applicants who do not possess the preferred qualification will still be eligible to compete for this position if job requirements are met.
- Two years' experience in Governmental, non-profit or corporate communications.

1. Bachelor's degree or higher in Public Relations, Journalism, Business Administration, or other related field OR 5 years relevant work experience.
2. Experience in developing and implementing strategies for public relations, communications and marketing.
3. Experience in gathering, organizing, formatting, translating, or interpreting information into forms more easily understood by the media or public, and disseminating the information through the use of print, broadcast or electronic media.
4. Experience in creating and editing marketing and public relations materials such as publications, newsletters, pamphlets or brochures.
5. Experience in advanced Adobe Creative Suite products or similar software.
6. Experience in implementing, monitoring and managing multiple programs or projects.
7. Experience in meeting or workshop facilitation, committee participation, or utilizing public outreach techniques.
8. Experience in budget and contract management such as monitoring or controlling budgets and contracts.
9. Experience in narrative essay writing or narrative report writing.
