Introduction

The Division is able to carry out the mission through comprehensive planning balancing resource management with recreational needs of the community.
Summary Statement
This position manages the Nature Preserve Program and all aspects of the Natural Areas Advisory Council, including quarterly meetings, agendas, public notifications and follow ups. Maintains Natural Areas and Nature Preserve databases, articles of dedication, manages the nomination process for Natural Areas and Nature Preserves, coordinates Preliminary Land Use Service comments, coordinates and leads volunteer groups in the field, inspects Nature Preserves, document issues, coordinate with Stewardship Program to create and update Nature Preserve management plans, lead Delaware State Parks’ tree planting initiatives and events, promotes Nature Preserves to the public via webpage, brochures, magazine articles and short videos. Share with landowners ecological and financial benefits of Nature Preserves.

- Maximizes achievement of program goals through integration of multiple programs.
- Provides staff support for Natural Areas Advisory Council and encourages citizen involvement through group and individual meetings and educational presentations.

- Ensures availability of natural heritage data, for environmental review and policymaking.
