Job Description Overview:
This position provides technical assistance on vocational rehabilitation and Workers’ Compensation issues to both internal and external participants. Key responsibilities include managing a caseload, outreach, implementing projects to enhance services, and offering independent vocational counseling to individuals with diverse disabilities. The role involves tracking and monitoring data to ensure service effectiveness.
The incumbent will assess vocational, medical, and psychological information to determine eligibility for services and develop individualized plans for vocational outcomes. They provide consultation, training, and guidance to VR Counselors and Supervisors, and support job development efforts. Additional duties include ensuring financial compliance and providing technical assistance on Workers’ Compensation issues and maintain the Workers’ Compensation database. The position also requires balancing multiple priorities, working under tight deadlines, and maintaining positive relationships within Area 3 units and colleagues to foster productivity and morale. Travel is required and attendance is essential to the role.
Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities:
Knowledge of the theories and practices in vocational rehabilitation guidance and counseling; interviewing techniques; medical and psychological aspects of disability groups; principles and techniques of effective communication; employment resources and vocational rehabilitation resources; and, methods of compiling, organizing and analyzing data.
Ability to compile, organize and analyze medical, vocational and psychological data; administer tests and analyze results; provide counseling and guidance in career planning; develop individual vocational rehabilitation programs and place participants in appropriate vocation; communicate effectively; and establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

I have a master’s degree in counseling and over 10 years of counseling experience. I separated from VR 3 years ago. Will I be contacted for an interview? The Florida AWARE Case Management System was introduced to VR staff in 2023. Experience with the Florida AWARE Case Management System is preferred. Although you qualify for the position, preference may be upheld for the interview.

Background Screening Requirement:
