Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Compiles and disseminates correspondences and from various agencies, the public, and other sources, correctional facilities, correctional institutions, work camps, community corrections and promotes these sources to maintain the exchange of pertinent information among Department of Corrections Bureaus, Offices of Florida Inspector Generals, and law enforcement agencies.
- Requests, receives, analyzes, and documents information of a confidential nature. Incumbent will process, analyze, and develop confidential criminal and intelligence information pursuant law, rule, involving those covered Correctional officers and correctional probation officers, by labor contracts for the Inspector General’s State Investigations field offices. Please note COs and CPOs are covered under FS 112.
- Utilizes electronic, technical and support systems equipment.
- Prepares and completes written reports which are grammatically correct. Completes all administrative documentation and issues reports timely. Ensures reports compiled are logically comprehensive and grammatically correct.
- Assist with hiring process for Office of Inspector General.
- Checks and manages incoming and outgoing mail.
- Handles inmate grievances and other inmate correspondence.
- Takes incoming calls to the Inspector Generals Office.
- Miscellaneous duties as needed
- An Associate’s degree
- Two years of administrative, clerical or customer service experience.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Knowledge of report writing techniques.
- Knowledge of the procedures and techniques for effective communication.
- Ability to make independent decisions.
- Ability to report information clearly, concisely, and accurately.
- Ability to coordinate the dissemination of information.
- Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
- Have a functional working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel software programs.
- Demonstrate excellent verbal and writing skills.
- Speak and writing in the English language fluently.
- Respond to internal department and external agency requests efficiently and effectively.
- Demonstrate organizational and planning skills.
- The incumbent shall not have been indicted, convicted, or adjudication withheld of any felony criminal offense.
- Associate with any person that is a participant or member of any gang that engages in criminal behavior as identified by the Office of Inspector General.
- Demonstrate ability to work with confidential documents and information without discrepancy.
- The incumbent is expected to maintain strict confidentiality in the performance of duties dealing with criminal information and intelligence.
