The Criminal Investigations Division encompasses all law enforcement and forensic components residing within the Department of Financial Services. With this broad responsibility, the division investigates a wide range of fraudulent and criminal acts including:

  • Insurance Fraud Investigations
  • Workers’ Compensation Fraud Investigations
  • Fire, Arson, and Explosives Investigations
  • Theft/Misuse of State Funds
  • Fire and Explosives Sample Analysis
  • Public Assistance Fraud

 REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or its' equivalent.
  • Two (2) years of experience in Research or Data Analysis. An Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university may substitute for the required experience.
  • Experience reviewing and preparing forms and reports.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Minimal travel.

 

Special consideration may be given to eligible candidates who have bilingual verbal & written skills that meet a critical need of the agency’s mission.

 

This position requires a security background check which includes a financial credit report, and fingerprinting.

WHAT IS THE SELECTION PROCESS?

Selection is a three-to-six-month process that consists of the following:

  • Completed State of Florida Employment Application

  • Background Investigation
  • Financial credit report

 

OUR SALARY & BENEFITS:

The minimum base salary of $39,320.81 annually.

 

Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of administrative principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of office procedures and practices.
  • Knowledge of the methods of data collection and analyses.
  • Knowledge of principles and techniques of effective verbal and written communication.
  • Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, to include Word, Excel, and Outlook, and the ability and skills to effectively use this software, and other software.
  • Ability to research, collect, evaluate, and analyze data to present in written report format.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to organize data into logical format for presentation in reports, documents, and other written materials.
  • Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to utilize problem solving techniques.

 

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

If applicable, (Incumbent of position is a member of DFS’ Disaster Response Team and, in that capacity, may be required on short notice to perform duties and necessary attendant travel in support of disaster relief efforts.)

 

Completes comprehensive research projects, assists with program evaluation studies, and tackles other law enforcement-related studies as assigned. Performs ad hoc studies, analyses, and related tasks as needed. Composes the Division's annual reports.

 

Independently handles a full range of assignments under limited supervision. Receives and sends confidential information related to the job's duties. Acts as the Division liaison with the Department’s press office, coordinates with DFS Office of Communications for social media outreach, media releases, and press conferences, maintains and documents agency outreach opportunities, and drafts promotional and internal announcements.

 

Consults and coordinates with regional outreach coordinators to localize information and education programs and strategies. Develops and compiles articles for the Division's electronic newsletter and creates standardized departmental consumer education materials to address trends, issues from complaint activity, and consumer needs.

 

Generates positive content for distribution throughout the agency and publications, markets the Division's mission through photography, graphics, and words.

 

Monitors social media related to agency performance and enforcement areas. Communicates trends in social media to executive staff.

 

Manages the content, production, and distribution of the Division’s anti-fraud materials and public awareness campaigns.

 

Provides administrative support for the Division as needed.

 

Performs related duties as required.
