Salary: $5,918 to $7,198 per month (SR-24, Step D to I)
Note: Hiring rates will be based on availability of funds, the applicant's qualifications, and other relevant factors.The Business Manager V manages the business affairs of a State institution; directs the budgeting activities of the institution; provides staff assistance to the supervisor on administrative matters; serves in a liaison capacity with staff personnel; and performs other related duties as assigned.
The current vacancy position manages the business affairs of a large correctional institution under the general supervision of the Warden. The primary functions of this position include directing and coordinating budgetary and expending activities of the institution; conducting and participating in management relating to inmate business matters, personnel matters, telephone services, procurement of goods and services; providing staff assistance to the Warden, Deputy Warden and section administrators on administrative matters; and serving in a liaison capacity with staff personnel.To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements:
Legal Authorization to Work Requirement:
The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State shall be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.
Basic Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
Specialized Experience: Four (4) years of progressively responsible professional experience in financial management, budget preparation, budgetary control, and related business management functions. In addition, ONE (1) of the required four (4) years must have included supervisory responsibilities which involved planning and directing the work of subordinates, assigning and reviewing such work, and training and developing new employees.
Substitutions Allowed: Relevant substitutions as described in the Minimum Qualification Requirements, will apply.
Other Requirements: All applicants who are conditionally offered employment or conditionally approved for movement into any of these positions shall be subject to drug screening, as required by Federal, State or local laws or departmental policy; and will be subject to an intensive background check. Drug testing must be paid for by the applicant.

(1) Has engaged in sexual abuse in a prison, jail, lockup, community confinement facility, juvenile facility or other institution.
(2) Has been convicted of engaging or attempting to engage in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force, or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable to consent or refuse.
(3) Has been civilly or administratively adjudicated to have engaged in the activity described in #2 above.
(4) Has been the subject of substantiated allegations of sexual abuse or sexual harassment or resigned during a pending investigation of alleged sexual abuse or sexual harassment.
