Summary

The Idaho Department of Correction is currently recruiting for a Facility Services Manager. This position will provide the necessary supervisory role for all IDOC facility maintenance staff located outside the Treasure Valley; this will include community reentry centers that do not have assigned maintenance personnel. This position will manage 9 employees, 5 of whom will be direct reports. The primary focus will be to support the facilities needs and services of the individual locations and standardize the processes and reporting tools. This is a leadership position in the Facility Services Unit (FSU) and will be vital for relaying information, setting goals and priorities, and facility operations.

Responsibilities

  • Planning and organizing the maintenance projects and facility support.
  • Using standard maintenance practices Implementing the same work order system in all agency facilities.
  • Supporting maintenance efforts of the local agency locations with leadership and staff.
  • Working with the leadership team of the FSU for agency wide projects.
  • Resource for DPW projects coordination with facilities.
  • Monitoring maintenance budgets at needed locations.
  • Implementing and making recommendations for policy, program, and operational changes
  • Advise leadership of routine maintenance and emergency repairs when needed.
  • Responsible for communicating needs to the FSU leadership team.
  • Communicate between vendors, contractors, and maintenance staff.
  • Relay operational and unit needs to facility staff.

Minimum Qualification

  • Some knowledge of Security Systems and practices. This is typically gained through successful completion of prescribed vocational education; OR Successful completion of seminar/workshop/training program equivalent to a two-day course (approximately 15 hours) specific to the subject area and at least 1 year successful work experience performing a variety of the tasks and functions specific to the subject area; OR At least one and a half years of successful work experience performing a variety of the tasks or functions specific to the subject area (or the experience required to successfully complete and apprenticeship/training program in the subject field).
  • Good knowledge of budget development and monitoring. Typically gained by approximately two years of full-time experience developing and monitoring a budget with responsibility for planning and preparing budget requests coupled with monitoring spending of an operations budget.
  • Good knowledge ofspace planning and utilization. Typically gained by at least six months experience where space planning and utilization was a job responsibility OR Successful completion of seminar/workshop/training program equivalent to a two-day course (approximately 15 hours) specific to the subject area.
  • Experiencerenovating and repairing commercial buildings. Typically gained by approximately six months of experience performing a variety of tasks and functions specific to the subject area
  • Experiencemanaging staff. This is typically gained through at least one year of experience where responsible for interviewing and selecting staff, providing work direction and training, evaluating performance, and generating employer problem solving solutions. Include the length of time, number and level of staff supervised.
  • Experience writing purchase bid specifications. This is typically by six months of experience writing purchase bid specifications.
  • Experience developing service and equipment maintenance contract requirements, writing and negotiating contract terms, and experience preparing equipment maintenance schedules. Typically gained by successful completion of a training course or workshop (approximately 20 hours) specifically covering contract administration or six months’ experience in collection, organization and evaluation of data to be utilized for contract development and monitoring.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Good Knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) work order and reporting software.
  • Experience replacing capital outlay equipment.
  • Good customer service and providing innovative solutions to the team.
