The Idaho Department of Juvenile Corrections (IDJC) is now hiring for a Statewide Training Supervisor, located at our Headquarters office in Downtown Boise.

This is a full-time position responsible for assessing training needs, designing and implementing training programs, and ensuring the effectiveness of development initiatives. The Statewide Training Supervisor will work closely with internal and external stakeholders, supervise training personnel, and contribute to policy development and implementation.

The Idaho Department of Juvenile Corrections has regionalized state services for juveniles committed to its custody, making it possible for most juveniles to remain close enough to their communities so parents and other key community members can take part in the juvenile's treatment. State juvenile correctional centers are located in Lewiston, Nampa, and St. Anthony and provide a full complement of services for youth who range from 10 to 20 years of age.

Position Information:

  • The work schedule will typically be 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday; however, the incumbent may need to work flexible hours and days on occasion to meet the position requirements. There may be opportunities for occasional telework following completion of probation.
  • Significant in-state travel will be required.
  • The position will be required to pass an FBI criminal background records check.
  • This position will require working at times in a juvenile corrections facility where you will work with and around juvenile offenders.

Responsibilities:

  • Assess program, training, and development needs across IDJC to ensure alignment with agency goals and objectives.
  • Design and redesign courses and curriculum to meet the evolving training needs of IDJC staff and stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement evaluation methods to measure training impact, behavior transfer, and return on investment.
  • Create comprehensive training materials, including manuals, lesson plans, and presentations.
  • Supervise and provide coaching for training coordinators, instructors, and IT support staff to enhance performance and professional development.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support training initiatives and special projects.
  • Plan and implement training programs for special projects and emerging agency needs.
  • Oversee the planning, development, and implementation of training and development programs to enhance workforce capabilities.
  • Monitor and provide feedback on program activities and training initiatives to ensure fidelity and effectiveness.
  • Review, edit, and create policies to ensure alignment with best practices and legal requirements.
  • Acquire knowledge of internal IT functionality and support to facilitate technology-based training solutions and customer service support.

Minimum Qualifications:

Considerable knowledge of:

  • Learning theory;
  • Organizational behavior

Good knowledge of:

  • Management practices

Experience:

  • Performing needs assessments, developing training objectives, designing and developing coursework and evaluating the course;
  • Facilitating learning and development to adult groups in structured learning situations;
  • Utilizing a variety of training and facilitation methods.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Good knowledge of the Idaho Department of Juvenile Correction (IDJC) strategic mission, training specific to divisional needs, and Peace Officer Standards & Training (POST) for correctional employees.
  • Certified Idaho Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Instructor
  • Proven experience in training program development, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Strong instructional design skills and experience in curriculum development.
  • Ability to create and utilize training assessments to measure effectiveness and impact.
  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience, including coaching and mentoring staff.
  • Strong ability to build and maintain stakeholder relationships.
  • Experience in policy review, editing, and development.
  • Knowledge of IT systems and functionality related to training and customer service helpdesk support.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across various teams and departments.
  • Experience in juvenile justice, corrections, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with state and federal training regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles and best practices in instructional design.
