The Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board is looking for a motivated person for the position of Accounts Payable Coordinator.

Position Overview

The Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board (ILETSB) invites well qualified candidates to apply for the position of Accounts Payable Coordinator. The ideal candidate for this position will have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, be highly organized, and be capable of multi-tasking to keep up with the demands of a busy and growing agency. ILETSB is conveniently located in Springfield with free parking on-site. Essential Functions

  • Serves as Accounts Payable Coordinator responsible for payment of invoices from receipt through to voucher payment.
  • Manages the Board’s Basic Training reimbursement program, approving, processing, and paying training reimbursement claims to local governments in compliance with the Illinois Police Training Act.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonable within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years college, preferably with coursework in business or public administration.
  • Requires one (1) year of responsible administrative experience in public or business organization, or completion of an agency approved professional management training program.

Specialized Skills

  • One (1) year or more of practical experience using a Systems Applications and Products (SAP)-based accounting system.
  • One (1) year or more of practical experience working with the principles of governmental accounting and statistics.
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive, cooperative working relationships with both internal staff as well as external partners.
  • Ability to effectively work independently and to accurately answer inquiries related to agency fiscal operations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • One (1) year or more of practical experience using a Systems Applications and Products (SAP)-based accounting system.
  • One (1) year or more of practical experience working with the principles of governmental accounting and statistics.
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive, cooperative working relationships with both internal staff as well as external partners.
  • Ability to effectively work independently and to accurately answer inquiries related to agency fiscal operations.


Conditions of Employment

  • Overtime is a condition of employment, and employee may be requested or required/mandated to work overtime including scheduled, unscheduled, or last-minute overtime. This requires the ability to work evenings and weekends.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel & Internet applications.
  • Requires ability to travel to attend seminars, conferences, and trainings to stay current on methods, tools, ideologies, or other industry-related topics relevant to job duties.
  • This position is considered medium work as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor (20 CFR 404.1567(c)). Medium work involves lifting no more than 50 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds. This job may require a good deal of walking or standing and involves sitting for long periods of time.
  • Requires the ability to pass a criminal background and work history check.
