Position Overview

Essential Functions
- Serves as the Communications Coordinator for the Bureau of Family Nutrition.
- Collaborates with unit supervisors and other State staff in planning routine and special event communications and outreach.
- Independently reviews impact of communication and outreach on programs and services and modifies activities to ensure strategies used are effective.
- Collaborates with other Divisions, State agencies, National WIC Association, and other organizations to ensure effective WIC communications and outreach and to coordinate efforts to maximize use of resources.
- Anticipates communication content needs and works with DHS Communications on requests that arise to meet the business needs of the Bureau.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonable within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
- Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college, preferably with coursework in business or public administration.
- Requires two (2) years of responsible administrative experience in a public or business organization.
- Of the two (2) years required experience, requires two (2) years in communication and outreach activities for community organizations.
- Two (2) years of professional years in communication and outreach activities for community organizations.
- Two (2) years of professional experience utilizing journalistic principles and the methods and techniques of disseminating information to the public, media outlets, and internal audiences.
- Two (2) years of professional experience developing, editing, and managing web content and social media content with accessibility in mind.
- Two (2) years of professional experience using web-based design tools, such as Canva or Adobe Express.
- Two (2) years of professional experience working on programs that engage culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
- Two (2) years of professional experience researching, composing, and editing emails, newsletters, reports, and other material for internal and external audiences.
- Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate.
- Requires the ability to work outside of normal work hours.
- Requires basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Stream and Forms.
