Position Overview
This Legislative Liaison position involves drafting agency policy relating to the education of legislative initiatives for the Agency, making recommendations relating to the strategy for passage of legislation and rules affecting agency policy, serving as a spokesperson for the Program Analyst Director regarding issues that have a significant impact on a specific course of action, performing liaison functions with members of the General Assembly and their staff, County and City officials and other organizations in the development and interpretation of Department policies and statutes as well as the general public. The role also entails working with administrative staff on research and studies regarding pending and revised legislation and its impact on the agency. ICJIA responds to community needs with research and federal and state grants administration. ICJIA administers over 100 million dollars in grants, including the R3 (restore, reinvest, renew) grants (funded through the tax on legalized cannabis), state violence prevention grants, and federal grants including under the Violence Against Women Act and the Victims of Crime Act. ICJIA convenes groups and collaborates on efforts to reform the criminal justice system. ICJIA leads criminal justice reform efforts by supporting policy makers through research.
