6 months experience, 12 semester hours, or a combination of both in assisting users with step-by-step detailed instructions of procedures to resolve the users’ issue. Requires a good technical proficiency in the area being supported.

The Iowa Department of Public Defense is hiring an Information Technology Specialist 3 position to be our senior experienced Help Desk technician that provides front line customer support to our customers. This position will serve under the general supervision of the Iowa Department of Public Defense (Iowa Army National Guard).

What You’ll Do
- Interact professionally with Iowa National Guard (IANG) personnel (via: phone, in person, or electronic system) on Information Technology (IT) issues.
- Create tickets in current organizational ticket management system, troubleshoot, update, and configure computer software, hardware, operating systems, drivers and map network drives
- Provide users with Microsoft Army 365 support (Email, TEAMS, Online support of office products)
- Coordinate with Iowa Army National Guard units on upcoming IT changes and distribute information to IANG personnel on IT related topics as directed.
- Perform upgrades / repairs, ensuring to follow established security measures according to DoD, State, and local policy
- Serve as the first point of contact to document customer issues and resolve problems
- Prepare written and oral instructions for the operation IT equipment
- Document procedures, fixes, and how to documents.
- Perform other related help desk functions as technology evolves.
- Must be Comp TIA Security Plus Certified within six (6) months of date of hire
- Must obtain a secrete security clearance or equivalent DoD background check and obtain/maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) Common Access Card (CAC) required to access DoD computer systems within (6) months
- Must possess / maintain a valid driver's license
- Must be willing to travel infrequently for schools or assigned special projects
- Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds, bend, stop, crawl, kneel and access confined/uncomfortable spaces for the installation, inspection and maintenance of DLP system components, hardware, and software

Minimum Qualification Requirements
Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in any field, and experience equal to one year of full-time work in: operating a multi-job computer; installing, operating, and coordinating computer-based networks; installing/maintaining database management systems; developing business application processes; developing/operating system programs; installing/maintaining personal computers, Local Area Networks, and/or servers; managing operating systems; developing/delivering information management training; providing Information Technology (IT) customer service; or designing/administering websites.
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in computer science, computer applications, software engineering, computer engineering, management information systems, business analytics, or cyber security.
- All of the following (a and b):
- One year of full-time work experience in: operating a multi-job computer; installing, operating, and coordinating computer-based networks; installing/maintaining database management systems; developing business application processes; developing/operating system programs; installing/maintaining personal computers, Local Area Networks, and/or servers; managing operating systems; developing/delivering information management training; providing Information Technology (IT) customer service; or designing/administering websites; and
- A total of four years of education and/or full-time experience (as described in part a), where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university coursework in any field equals one year of full-time experience.
- All of the following (a and b):
- One year of full-time work experience in: operating a multi-job computer; installing, operating, and coordinating computer-based networks; installing/maintaining database management systems; developing business application processes; developing/operating system programs; installing/maintaining personal computers, Local Area Networks, and/or servers; managing operating systems; developing/delivering information management training; providing Information Technology (IT) customer service; designing/administering websites; or executing technology projects (e.g., systems analysis, requirements, design, development, and testing); and
- Either of the following: i. Certification by an authorized educational institution/major computer or software producer in an area directly related to one of the computer specialty fields described in part a; or ii. Eighteen semester hours of accredited post-high-school coursework in one of the specialty fields described in part a.
- Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes six months of fulltime work as an Information Technology Specialist 2.
