The 8th Judicial District’s Juvenile Court Services has an immediate opening for Juvenile Court Officer 1 in Wapello County, Ottumwa, Iowa. May be assigned to cover other counties as needed.
This is not a promotional opportunity. Employee will be transferred in at their current classification until the time they meet the qualifications of the higher classification.
New employees are expected to start at the base of the pay range. The pay range for the Juvenile Court Officer 1 class is $25.27 - $40.29 per hour / $2021.60 - $3223.20 biweekly, based on an 80-hour pay period.
Positions in this class are exempt from the screening and referral requirements of the Iowa Department of Administrative Services - Human Resources Enterprise.

The Responsibilities For This Position Include
- Handling matters pertaining to delinquent youth, pursuant to Iowa Code Chapter 232, including intake, diversion, supervision, and prevention activities.
- Making recommendations to the Court regarding detention and custody, conducts pre-dispositional investigations, prepares reports to the court, testifies in court about dispositional and other recommendations, incorporates evidenced based practices into daily work, supervises probation, motivates youth and families and engages them in then change process, coordinates and monitors services provided by various agencies to juvenile clients.

Minimum Qualification Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from a four – year college or university in law, criminal justice, criminology, sociology or related social sciences.
- Successfully complete training requirements set by the Iowa Supreme Court.
- Possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license, unless an exception is made.
Salary : $25 - $40
