Job Description
The 5th Judicial District of the Iowa Judicial Branch has an immediate opening for a Juvenile Drug Court Case Manager position in the Polk County Justice Center office in Des Moines, Iowa. The position monitors the activities of juveniles and their compliance with conditions established by the drug court, providing testimony, recommendations and written reports. Additionally, under the supervision of a Juvenile Court Officer III, the Drug Court Case Manager receives curfew calls after normal work hours, conducts school visits and occasionally, conducts visits at detention centers, schools, home and placement facilities. The Drug Court Case Manager also supervises, collects, submits and reports results of urine samples.
The starting salary for new State employees is expected to be at the base of the pay range. The hourly range for this position is $21.42 to $33.41. Adjustments may be made if the successful applicant has relevant experience.

Hours: Monday – Friday 8:00A – 4:30P

Under the supervision of Chief Juvenile Court Officer or designee, the Juvenile Drug Court Case Manager works with youth referred into the Juvenile Drug Court Program and provide intensive supervision and case management for the Drug Court Program. Minimum Qualification Requirements
A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in law, criminal justice, criminology, sociology or related social sciences.
Must possess a valid Iowa motor vehicle operator’s license, unless an exception is made.

- Cultural proficiency in working with children and families of various ethnic backgrounds
- Ability to communicate well with others, with patience and evenness of temperament
- Ability to maintain accurate and detailed case records
- Skill in handling emotional situations with persons of various backgrounds and other special circumstances
- Ability to work under pressure and make sound judgments within a limited time frame

- Provide group facilitation and crisis intervention
- Collect samples for urinalysis drug screening
- Assist juveniles in securing employment and provide oversight to juveniles during their employment
- Responds to emergency matters outside of normal working hours
- Monitors youth progress and collaborates with treatment providers to include therapy, substance abuse treatment, and mental health treatment
- Receive curfew calls
- Collaborate with parents, school staff and providers
- Conduct both announced and unannounced home visits
