Agriculture Specialist 1 has an SER of $19.23 per hour.
Agriculture Specialist 2 has an SER of $20.58 per hour.

Three years of experience in inspecting or enforcing for compliance with agricultural laws, rules or regulations or inspection and testing of weighing and measuring devices; OR
A bachelor’s degree in forestry, an agricultural, biological, chemical, environmental, health, or physical science, or an information technology, mathematics or business field.FUNCTION OF WORK:
To examine, inspect and investigate products, facilities, services, commodities, and/or livestock to ensure compliance with and enforcement of laws and regulations concerning Meat Inspection, Poultry & Eggs, Fruits & Vegetables, Agricultural Commodities, Weights & Measures, animal feed manufacturing, and/or Livestock.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Close from an Agriculture Specialist District Supervisor, Agriculture Specialist Program Manager, Agriculture Assistant Division Director, Ag Specialist Regional Enforcement Supervisor or higher level supervisor. May receive project supervision from Agriculture Specialists 2 and 3 during training periods.

JOB DISTINCTIONS:
Differs from Agriculture Specialist 2 by performance of entry level rather than journeyman level tasks.
70%: Commercial Feed label review to determine commercial feed label compliance with state and federal regulations. Direct communication with feed and pet food companies concerning label revisions, label denial, and compliance failures. Preparation of notification letters and/or emails to companies that have failed to comply with commercial feed manufacturing or labeling laws and regulations.
10%: Data Input of reviewed commercial feed labels, inspection reports and sample reports into USA Plants database to provide a crosslink between USA Plants and Lab Works.
10%: Preparation of case files for companies charged with violations in the Louisiana Commercial Feed Law to be presented at adjudicatory hearings before the Agricultural Chemistry and Seed Commission. Ensure that all company correspondences and communications are up-to-date and in case files as evidence of the violations of the Feed Law.
5%: Field Inspections of commercial feed manufacturing sites, inspection of commercial feed labeling and packaging at retail outlets, training, and auditing of field inspectors.
5%: Other LDAF Feed Program duties as required by the LDAF Feed Program Division Director.
