MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any college hours or degree must be from a school accredited by one of the following regional accrediting bodies: the Middle States Commission on Higher Education; the New England Commission of Higher Education; the Higher Learning Commission; the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities; the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools; and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.
Function of Work:
To direct police enforcement activities of a police division actively involved in investigations of crimes and accidents; to provide emergency services and crime prevention programs; or to serve as shift supervisors in a large university police department.
Level of Work:
Supervisor.
Supervision Received:
Broad review from a higher level police official or campus administrator.
Supervision Exercised:
Direct line over Police Sergeants and lower-level police officers.
Location of Work:
Statewide.

Differs from a Police Sergeant-A by the presence of supervisory responsibilities for a division or shift supervisory responsibility for a large university police department.
Differs from Police Captain-A by the absence of managerial responsibilities.
Directs activities of a police division or shift in a large police department with a specific organizational goal.
Directs and supervises the activities of lower-level officers.
Researches problem areas and recommends possible solutions to officers.
