This vacancy is located in the Office of Property & Casualty/Louisiana Fortify Homes Program.
These positions report to the Director of the Louisiana Fortify Homes Program. These positions review applications for grants to retrofit or re-roof primary residences pursuant to the Louisiana Fortify Homes Program in order to receive a FORTIFIED Roof® designation pursuant to the standards of the Insurance Institute of Business and Home Safety (IBHS).
- 25% Reviews the Pre-Site Inspection report to ensure completeness and to identify any issues relative to eligibility for the FORTIFIED Roof designation.
- 25% Reviews Bid Sheets received for an application to ensure that they address any issues identified in the Pre-Site Inspection and are reasonable. Recommends approval or disapproval of bids.
- 20% Responds to phone calls and emails regarding the Louisiana Fortify Homes Program.
- 5% Determines the Homestead Exemption status and Flood Zone (Special Flood Hazard Area) for the Applicant:
- Searches property tax records of the Louisiana Tax Commission website Parish Tax Rolls page and uses parish assessor sites when necessary.
- Uses the FEMA Flood Map Service Center to determine Flood Zone.
- 5% Reviews insurance information to verify that the Applicant has wind coverage as part of the residential insurance policy.
- 5% Recommends approval or disapproval of grant application based on meeting administrative and technical criteria.
- 5% Reviews the contract, invoice, and designation certificate.
- 5% Determines the amount of the grant and recommends payment.
- 5% Other duties as assigned.
