The State of Maine is now recruiting staff for the Maine Paid Family and Medical Leave (PFML) Program. The Office Associate will be a key team member in one of the largest and most impactful new programs in the State with the objective of delivering a service that Mainers can easily use in their time of need.
The Office Associate will be a key member in handling various projects connected to the day-to-day execution of the PFML Benefits Program. This opportunity will be a fast-paced role and play a part in executing priorities and securing resources connected to the needs of the PFML program.
We offer a flexible schedule that includes a partial teleworking option.
Primary responsibilities include :
Assisting the finance and appeals division with handling and prioritizing multiple tasks and projects with, at times, tight deadlines and without requiring much supervision.
Key information into and upload documents to the Maine Paid Leave system.
Professionally handle phone calls and emails related to the appeals process.
Arrange interpretive services.
Manage administrative records.
Perform daily accounting activities (BIE, paper check processing)
Build relationships and collaborate with stakeholders, partners, and cross-functional teams across MDOL and with other partners within state government on matters related to PFML program.
Perform any other duties as assigned by the Director and / or PFML Leadership Team.
Minimum qualifications :
Training, education, or experience in office and administrative support work that demonstrates 1) competency in applying a solid knowledge of modern office practices to perform complex, varied office support tasks, and 2) the ability to use independent decision-making on the appropriate processes to follow, information to process, and actions to take in accordance with standard procedures. All positions in this classification assume the qualifications of : Office Assistant I, Office Assistant II, and Office Associate I.
