Main Purpose of Job
The Accountant I will oversee the fiscal operations of the agency's Child Support Administration and Finance Units. The incumbent in this job will use and evaluate data from the agency's accounting systems and records to create and reconcile monthly reports for use by the DHS (Department of Human Services) central office, the agency, and the General Accounting Division. This role will also conduct adjustment evaluations for the Financial Management Information System (FMIS), the Child Juvenile and Adult Management System (CJAMS), Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365), and Eligibility and Enrollment (E and E).
POSITION DUTIES
Responsible for the general accounting activities performed by local fiscal personnel to ensure asset safeguarding and fund accountability in compliance with GAAP and state and local rules. Prepares MA Co Pay invoices for the 3010 program and deliver it to vendors monthly.� Assists with close-out functions by ensuring that the items are appropriately accrued and adjusted at the fiscal year-end.� Oversees the agency's corporate purchasing program (CPC); Monitors the completion and timely filing of financial reports on a monthly and quarterly basis, as required by DHS, GAD, and Local DSS guidelines.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university, including or supplemented by three credit hours in auditing. Experience: One year of experience examining, analyzing and interpreting accounting systems, records and reports by applying generally accepted accounting principles. Notes: 1. Candidates may substitute a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with thirty credit hours in Accounting and related courses, including or supplemented by three credit hours in auditing, for the required education. 2. Applicants who have met the requirements for admission to the CPA examination prior to July 1, 1974 will be considered to have met the educational requirement referenced above. 3. Possession of a certificate as a Certified Public Accountant or a Master's degree in accounting from an accredited college or university may be substituted for the required experience. 4. Applicants may substitute one year of professional auditing experience for the required experience.� 5. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in the Accounting Officer classification or Financial Management specialty codes in the Accounting field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications. One year of experience delivering financial insights to assist organizations in making educated decisions. One year of experience preparing journal entries, bank reconciliations, and/or aiding with monthly and year-end closings. One year of experience with budgeting and policy analysis.
