Introduction
The Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Agency (MLGCA) serves as one of the largest revenue sources for the State of Maryland, supporting important state programs and services including education, public health and safety, human resources and the environment. In addition to generating revenue from the sale of lottery products, the MLGCA is also responsible for the oversight of the state's casino gaming program, providing direction and guidance to its casino partners on financial, security, regulatory and licensing procedures for the facilities. The Agency also regulates Sports Wagering, Daily Fantasy Sports and Electronic Bingo, as well as Instant Ticket Lottery Machines, which are located at almost 90 Veteran's posts. Main Purpose of Job
The Computer Operator Supervisor is primarily responsible for providing supervision to the Operations Team. The Operations Team supports the game operations by participating in all draw games, including but not limited to the multi-state games such as Powerball / Double Play, Mega Millions, and Cash4Life, as well as in-state games such as the Pick 3, Pick 4, Pick 5, Multi-Match, Cash Pop and Bonus Match 5. The Operations Team utilizes the Internal Control System (ICS) to verify game and report integrity, and to balance and report the sales and prize winning ticket data and payouts. They also monitor the ICS environment and report any issues to their supervisor and to the Systems Administrators. In addition, the Operations Team joins calls, updates the website with winning numbers and winner counts for the multi-state games, and communicates game and status updates to various groups such as internal departments and the Multi-State Lottery (MUSL). They support the Finance Department by updating the positive pay information in the banking application, receive data from Child Support and Criminal Restitution, and share voluntary exclusion information with our lottery system vendor. The Computer Operator Supervisor plans, coordinates and supervises the activities performed by the Operations Team members. This position maintains and updates policy and procedure manuals and instructs the team on procedural changes. This position also aims for the error-free operations of all game activities performed by the Operations Team, and ensures adequate staffing levels to meet the needs of the unit. The Operations Team, including the Computer Operator Supervisor, is Emergency Essential and reports to the Maryland Lottery Headquarters office on all assigned shifts, including holidays.
POSITION DUTIES
This posting is for a permanent, full-time Computer Operator Supervisor in the Information Technology Division of the Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Agency. Individuals in this position are classified as Essential Employees which means that you would be required to report for work or remain at the work site to continue the Agency's operation during an emergency or weather-related situation. Teleworking does not apply for this position. This position supervises both day and night-shift Computer Operators, and may need to fill in various shifts to accommodate staffing needs.

Duties include, but are not limited to :
- Ensure error-free transaction balancing for current and future draw games is performed;
- Monitor and oversee the communication with various business partners and updates to partner websites with necessary and accurate game information;
- Ensure all reports are balanced with the internal control system and ensure the public website updates are correct and error-free;
- Plan and maintain work schedule of the Operations Team, and fill in on shifts as needed, to ensure adequate staffing.
- Monitor IT and server equipment for error-free operation;
- Supervise the daily operations of financial file transfers;
- Create, modify, and maintain standard operation procedures for all aspects of daily unit operations;
- Train and instruct staff in operating policies and procedures. Schedule staff meetings as necessary to ensure the successful operations of the unit.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education : Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience : Four years of experience operating multipurpose, multi-tasking computer systems.
Notes :
1. Candidates may substitute additional experience operating computer equipment for the purpose of data entry, word processing or maintaining information on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
2. Candidates may substitute fifteen credit hours in computer operation at an accredited college or university for one year of the required experience.
3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Computer System Operations classifications or Computer System Operations specialty codes in the Information Technology field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
