What are the responsibilities and job description for the Departmental Analyst 9-P11 (Assistant FOIA Coordinator) position at State of Michigan?
As Assistant Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) coordinator, this position independently administers the Freedom of Information Act. The assistant FOIA coordinator (AFC) is responsible for accepting and processing requests for Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy’s (EGLE) public records under the Freedom of Information Act. The AFC also processes civil, third-party subpoenas received by EGLE. The AFC must have a thorough knowledge of existing, new, and revised Michigan complied laws, as well as public acts, legislative bills, Attorney General Opinions, court opinions and decisions, and EGLE methods of operation. The AFC must explain FOIA exemptions and relevant case law to requesters, staff, attorneys, and the public.
Position Description
The selected candidate may be eligible for a hybrid work schedule (combination of remote and in-person) or a fully remote work schedule (with occasional travel to their official work location). Employees approved for schedules that include remote work must complete that work within Michigan. Relocation expenses are not reimbursed. When working remote, employees must use a designated workspace that is safe and professionally appropriate, allows for privacy, minimizes distractions, and includes secure internet access.
