This position develops and implements a structured process for managing and updating official agency documents on the MDOS website to for accuracy and to meet ADA and ESL accessibility. The intern will work with the Communications intern to identify outdated documents, determine document ownership across all MDOS departments, and collaborate with teams to ensure timely updates. The intern will create a tracking system for document status, last updates, and compliance with ADA and ESL accessibility standards. The intern will work closely with the Communications team but will report directly to the Deputy Chief of Staff.


Position Description - Student Assistant


This is a non-career position with limitations on hours of no more than 29 hours per week. Student assistants cannot exceed 129 hours of service in any calendar month. Since this position is non-career, the preferred candidate will not be eligible for benefits, but will receive benefits regarding retirement. 

This position is expected to last 12 weeks with a start date in May 2025 and ending in late August or early September. Specifics of start and end date will be discussed with selected candidate.

Education 
Current enrollment in high school, vocational or technical school, or post-secondary educational institution.

Graduate level or undergraduate junior/senior majoring in IT, Public Administration, Project Management, Communications,
or related field preferred.
 
Experience 
No specific type or amount is required.

Experience in project management, document control, website management and familiarity with accessibility compliance
standards (ADA, ESL) is preferred.

Student Assistants must be continually enrolled in and attending a vocational school, or post-secondary educational institution. Summer attendance is not required.
 

Students must provide proof to the appointing authority of enrollment and updated information whenever changes to their status occurs, such as: (a) change in degree program, (b) change in class status (e.g., freshman to sophomore), (c) school transfer, (d) granting of a degree, or (e) leaving school. D. 

Students accepted by, but not yet enrolled in, a post-secondary educational institution must provide proof of acceptance to that institution. 

Student Assistants should be employed in a work area that is relevant to the student’s academic and career goals.
