Job Description
This position conducts a research project focused on a policy problem or issue affecting MDOS customers. The intern will analyze the issue, research potential policy solutions, and develop a policy recommendation outlining specific legislative changes needed to address the problem. The internship will conclude with the intern delivering a policy brief and presenting recommendations to the executive team.
Position Description - Student Assistant
This is a non-career position with limitations on hours of no more than 29 hours per week. Student assistants cannot exceed 129 hours of service in any calendar month. Since this position is non-career, the preferred candidate will not be eligible for benefits, but will receive benefits regarding retirement.
This position is expected to last 12 weeks with a start date in May 2025 and ending in late August or early September. Specifics of start and end date will be discussed with selected candidate.

Education
Current enrollment in high school, vocational or technical school, or post-secondary educational institution.
Currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate program preferably in Political Science, Public Policy, Public Administration, or related field.
Experience
No prior experience required
Coursework in policy analysis, research methods, or government preferred

D.
Students accepted by, but not yet enrolled in, a post-secondary educational institution must provide proof of acceptance to that institution.
Student Assistants should be employed in a work area that is relevant to the student’s academic and career goals.
