We act as custodian of unclaimed/abandoned property in Michigan and work to reunite reported properties with their rightful owners or the owners’ heirs.
This position is responsible for thoroughly researching requests, whether in writing or over the phone, in order to determine the rightful ownership of property consisting of cash, securities and/or safe deposit box contents. This position reviews an assortment of legal documents (including, but not limited to, probate court documents, wills, trusts, death certificates, court orders) as well as a wide variety of informational paperwork submitted by claimants. This position is also responsible for maintaining and ensuring confidentiality of data, providing excellent customer service in a call center environment and being detail oriented.

Education
Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school.
Experience
Treasury Customer Service Representative 6
One year of experience responding to customer inquiries and resolving problems.
Treasury Customer Service Representative 7
Two years of experience responding to customer inquiries and resolving problems, including one year equivalent to a Treasury Customer Service Representative 6.
Treasury Customer Service Representative E8
Three years of experience responding to customer inquiries and resolving problems, including two years equivalent to a Treasury Customer Service Representative 6 or one year equivalent to a Treasury Customer Service Representative 7.

Remote Work: This is initially a hybrid position with approximately 4-6 months of training on-site at our Dimondale, Michigan office, with the potential to be remote after the training (except for a one day per month requirement to be on-site); however selected candidate must have a safe and appropriate designated workspace or workstation for performance of work and secure and sufficient internet access of commercial cable or wireless broadband with minimum speeds of 25 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload. Please note that at times additional onsite work may be required.
Work must be performed in the state of Michigan. If you currently reside outside of Michigan, you must relocate to Michigan to perform the duties of this position. Relocation expenses are not reimbursed.
