Job Summary

Anoka Metro Regional Treatment Center (AMRTC) has an opportunity for you to join our team as a Chaplain. The chaplain maintains collaborative relationships with all members of the treatment team. As an active member of the treatment team, the chaplain provides spiritual support and interventions by addressing mental health symptoms as identified on the patient’s treatment plan. This work is carried out in a pluralistic environment; and the chaplain is sensitive to the religious practices of many separate religions, denominations, and spiritual traditions. In the role of the Chaplain at AMRTC, you will provide complete religious and spiritual care to patients in accordance with their needs and desires. Chaplains assure that all patients have the freedom to practice the religion of their choice, opportunities to practice and participate in religious experiences, and are protected from proselytizing. The chaplain provides guidance and religious instruction to individuals and groups. In addition, chaplains will conduct religious worship services in the chapel.

Job duties may include:

  • Provides 1:1 interventions to address mental health objectives on patient treatment plans
  • Facilitate treatment focused spiritual and recovery groups
  • Provide consultation on the spiritual needs of patients based on initial screening by the treatment team
  • Participate in various hospital committees and performance improvement efforts
  • Provide chaplaincy services to patients and staff in the event of an emergency or critical incident; may include spiritual care for family members of patents, as appropriate

  • This is a part-time position; 28 hours per week.

AMRTC is an inpatient psychiatric hospital serving adults with mental illness in a large, campus-based setting. The population also includes individuals civilly committed for specialized care, such as competency for criminal court and co-occurring mental illness/chemical dependency. Located just 15 minutes north of the Twin Cities metro, this modern facility offers compassionate, person-centered care in a pleasant environment appreciated by patients and employees alike.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

To qualify, applicants must meet either of the following criteria:
  • Master of Divinity degree or a related degree program from a graduate school accredited by the Association of Theological Schools—or equivalent religious requirements from endorsing religious bodies.
  • Completion of a minimum of four units of Clinical Pastoral Education.

OR

  • Bachelor's degree in Theology or related degree program
  • 5 years of experience performing independent pastoral care and counseling in specialized ministry setting
  • Completion of a minimum of four units of Clinical Pastoral Education.

Preferred Qualifications
