Job Summary

Minnesota Specialist Health Services (MSHS) in Willmar is seeking a General Repair Worker to provide a safe and secure facility so that patients receive quality professional services in a therapeutic environment that is safe for patients and staff. Minnesota Specialty Health Services (MSHS) focuses on rehabilitative education, building interpersonal skills, and developing community engagement skills to increase each client’s independence and self-management of their illness, behavior, and emotion.

As the General Repair Worker (GRW) at MSHS, under general supervision, and in condition with the Maintenance Supervisor, performs a variety of repair and maintenance jobs on the MSHS campus.

  • Repair and maintenance of grounds equipment.
  • Repair and maintenance of, and/or assisting building interiors and exteriors including painting, janitorial duties and housekeeping, basic masonry, basic carpentry, flooring, wall tile and sheet rock repair.
  • Performing grounds keeping including grass mowing, simple landscaping, and snow removal from parking lots and sidewalks.
  • Knowledgeable in the use of medium duty construction equipment such as skid loaders (with multiple attachments), zero turn mowers, and snowplows.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

To qualify, applicants must have a valid Minnesota drivers license, and the following:

Knowledge of:
  • Occupational hazards and safety measures sufficient to perform the job duties safely and efficiently.
  • Preventative maintenance and minor repairs on snow throwers, lawn mowers, and weed whips.
  • Preventative maintenance and minor repairs on other equipment such as power tools, floor scrubbers, carpet extractors and air conditioners.
Ability to:
  • Follow oral and written instructions.
  • Provide work instructions to unskilled helpers.
  • Safely use hand and power hand tools.
  • Safely operate trucks, tractors, snow throwers, lawn mowers, skid loaders, and other machinery.
