Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled IT Advanced Quality Assurance Analyst/Tester with a strong technical foundation to join our team. In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring the highest standards of software quality by designing and executing efficient and effective testing strategies in a suite of .NET-based financial applications. While your primary focus will be hands-on testing and quality assurance, you will also identify opportunities to incorporate automation and streamline processes wherever it adds value to the QA effort.
This position involves performing complex testing and quality assurance tasks, with an emphasis on technical proficiency, problem-solving, and leveraging appropriate tools and techniques to ensure reliable and efficient software solutions. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to align testing efforts with business and technical requirements, improve QA workflows, and deliver high-performing software systems. We are looking for a detail-oriented professional with a commitment to quality, a problem-solving mindset, and the ability to adapt to a dynamic project environment.
This position is currently eligible for full-time telework:
- Telework for Minnesota IT Services allows an employee to perform work from a telework location and an employee may be required to be in the office based on business needs and other dependencies in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
- Only candidates located in Minnesota and bordering states (Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, or Wisconsin) are telework eligible.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications

Position requires a minimum of four (4) years of experience in software quality assurance, testing methodologies, and quality control practices.
Experience must include:
- Leading testing efforts on project-level initiatives and acting as the QA point of contact for cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated testing of web-based applications, with a focus on cross-browser compatibility, user interfaces (UI), and functional workflows and in creating test plans and test cases.
- Proficiency in designing and executing moderately complex SQL queries for data validation and defect identification, including working with relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle).
- Utilization of quality assurance tools (e.g., ALM, CLM, Azure DevOps, or equivalent) to create test plans, monitor defect lifecycles, and improve project outcomes.
- Utilization of advanced automation testing tools (e.g., Selenium, UFT, etc.), frameworks (e.g., TestNG, JUnit), and continuous integration tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab, Quibble).
- Programming proficiency in automation languages (e.g., Python, Java, JavaScript).
- Strong communication skills, including active listening and empathy, with the ability to convey technical details clearly to diverse audiences.
A master’s degree in Information Technology or an IT related field substitutes for three (3) years of experience, OR an IT related bachelor’s degree substitutes for two (2) years, OR an IT related associate’s degree substitutes for one (1) year.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated testing experience with financial operations applications (e.g., payroll, accounting, budgeting, or financial reporting systems) and a demonstrated understanding of compliance, accuracy, and QA processes in financial workflows.
- Experience testing web applications built on .NET frameworks (e.g., ASP.NET, ASP.NET Core), including hands-on API testing using tools such as Postman or SoapUI.
- Experience with or knowledge of using TestMeld to combine or integrate various test suites.
- Familiarity with performance testing tools like JMeter or LoadRunner.
- Understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for validating front-end behavior and ensuring UI/UX standards.
- Experience in mentoring junior QA team members and/or leading QA/testing projects.
- Prior work experience within agile development environments, with proficiency in writing and executing test cases based on user stories, acceptance criteria, and sprint goals.
