Job Summary
This job posting will be used to fill multiple Civil Engineering or Construction Engineering student worker positions for the summer of 2025. Positions will assist and provide support to engineering offices throughout MnDOT, District 1, by performing pre-engineering work as assigned and directed by the supervisor.
Students will gain hands-on transportation work experience. Examples of assignments may include Construction, Surveys, Bridge, Major Projects, Materials, and Traffic. Jobs are available in Duluth, Virginia, and Grand Rapids
A valid driver’s license is required for most of the positions.
** The Minnesota Department of Transportation does not sponsor applicants for work visas or Optional Practical Training Extensions for STEM Students. Individuals must be legally authorized to work in the US at the start of employment.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Applicants must be enrolled in a college, university, trade, or technical school in the next three (3) months.
- Students must be enrolled in six (6) semester or nine (9) quarter credits; or for a non-credit granting institution, two (2) or more classes per semester/quarter.
- Applicants will be asked to complete an Education Verification form prior to their appointment.
- Applicants must include an anticipated graduation/completion date on their resume. This information is needed to determine eligibility.
- As part of your application, please include a current resume and transcript (an unofficial copy is acceptable).
- Candidates with at least two (2) years of post-secondary education in the program area in which they are employed will qualify for the student worker paraprofessional senior classification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Sophomores, juniors, or students who have at least one year or more left in school before completing their program.
- Candidates enrolled as a full-time student in any Engineering Discipline, including Civil Technology or Construction Management degree with a GPA of at least 3.0.
Physical Requirements
Varies based on type of work. If work is physical in nature, a pre-employment physical may be required.
