The Bureau of Feed and Seed supports the state's feed industry and consumers through food safety inspections, sampling, and testing product providing information to consumers to assist in making purchasing decisions. The Bureau maintains a chemistry lab that tests samples to assure feed products meet their guarantees and offers many seed sampling and testing services. We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Compliance and Enforcement Officer. This position will enable the Feed and Seed program to provide preventative control inspections of feed facilities under the state's authority. SALARY: $49,550.16 annually
Location: Jefferson City, Missouri (applicant must reside or be willing to relocate to this area). Feed & Seed Lab, 115 Constitution Drive, Jefferson City, Missouri
Primary Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- Plan, coordinate, implement and monitor the compliance and enforcement of the Feed and Seed program.
- Review inspection reports and prepare/implement compliance strategies and enforcement actions to achieve compliance with state and federal laws and regulations.
- Develop compliance and enforcement data to measure program progress and monitor compliance issues.
- Develop processes to assure registration, license and tonnage fees are collected as per Missouri law.
- Review and evaluate complaint reports for applicable documentation. Work with field inspection staff, laboratory and management to assure cases are complete and brought to an appropriate conclusion, including if necessary, the preparation of enforcement actions to achieve compliance with state and federal laws and regulations.
Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in animal nutrition, animal science, agriculture business management, food science or closely related areas. Substitutions for education may be considered on a year-for-year basis in experience.
Organized and detail oriented with the ability to maintain accurate records, gather and analyze documentary evidence and to prepare oral and written reports.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work with minimal guidance effectively with state and federal regulatory staff to accomplish established program goals.
Considerable knowledge of state and federal feed and seed regulatory statutes and regulations and analytical and inspection procedures for various types of feed and seed products.
Preferred Qualifications:
Four or more years of professional experience in agricultural regulatory or government service programs, the feed industry, livestock production, or business management, is highly desirable.
