Salary: $1,700 - $2,078 semi-monthly
Job Location: This position is with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Division of Division of Environmental Quality, and will be located at the Southwest Regional Office, 2040 West Woodland, Springfield, MO 65807.

This position is located in our Water Pollution Section with responsibilities for permitting, compliance assistance, and inspections. You will interact with the public and businesses ensuring compliance across southwest Missouri. You will work independently and within an amazing team of dedicated team members.
What you’ll do:
- Review, process, and issue general National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) operating permits as well as other technical/compliance assistance tasks related to water pollution permitting
- Schedule and conduct inspections and environmental sampling of NPDES permitted facilities in accordance with the Department’s Standard Operating Procedures, Compliance and Enforcement Manuals, and Operations Manuals to determine compliance of wastewater facilities
- Provide compliance assistance to regulated entities
- Coordinate joint efforts with Department team members, Department of Health and Senior Services, Missouri Department of Conservation, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Land Reclamation Program, and permitted wastewater officials
- Respond to special requests and environmental emergencies that involve wastewater facilities
All you need for success:
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science with at least 30 hours of Science courses (substitutions may be allowed)
- A valid Missouri State Driver’s License
- Computer skills, Word, Excel, Access, and ability to navigate on-line forms
- Ability to conduct site inspection over uneven and rough terrain
Preferred Qualifications
- Time management and self-motivated
- Manage multiple tasks with varying timelines
- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
- Ability to periodically travel with some overnight stays
