What are the responsibilities and job description for the Park Ranger position at State of Missouri?
Minimum Salary: $1,799.85 (semi-monthly)
Job Location: This position is with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Division of State Parks, and will be located at Lake Wappapello State Park, 8005 State Highway 172, Williamsville, MO 63967

What you’ll do:
- Enforce Missouri state laws and state park rules and regulations by use of citations, warnings, and custodial arrests
- Patrol assigned areas within state parks/historic sites
- Provide security and protection for property, visitors, and staff
- Provide assistance to visitors as needed
- Respond or and conduct investigations, make arrests, seize property or contraband and prepare related reports and forms
All you need for success:
Minimum Qualifications
- Completion of a training program from a certified law enforcement training academy, eligibility to be commissioned as a peace officer, and 1-3 years of law enforcement experience. (Additional education may substitute for the required experience)
Preferred Qualifications and Experience/Special Job Requirements
- Ability to initially and annually demonstrate the level of physical fitness deemed necessary to perform the essential functions of the job through successful completion of a fit-for-duty assessment. - Ability to obtain, at the time of appointment, and maintain licensure as a peace officer in accordance with the requirements established by the State of Missouri
- Ability to pass a background investigation administered by Missouri State Parks
- Ability to pass a medical examination, a visual examination with eyesight corrected to 20/40, and a psychological evaluation as prescribed by the Missouri State Parks after a conditional offer of appointment is made
- Possession of a valid Missouri vehicle operator’s license appropriate for vehicle assignment
- Ability to obtain and maintain certification as a police bicyclist in accordance with the criteria prescribed by the International Police Mountain Bike Association (IPMBA)
- Must live within one hour of the assigned park location
