St. Charles Habilitation Center currently has an opening for 50% part-time Dietitian. This position will work Monday through Friday, with Saturday, Sunday, and Holidays off. The position work schedule will be between the hours of 8:00am and 4:30pm, as well as having flexibility to meet consumer’s needs.
JOB DUTIES
- Completes nutritional assessments of consumers; obtains and reviews diet histories; develops individual nutrition plans as directed by doctors: and evaluates and documents diet changes and nutritional progress.
- Plans menus for standard and modified diets according to basic dietetic principles; assists in directing the preparation and service of food.
- Maintains sanitation and safety standards in the preparation, service, and storage of foods.
- Observes consumers during meal service, and checks on food waste and leftovers, to identify whether modifications need to be made to individual diets, menus, and/or portion control techniques.
- Participates in the quality improvement program in dietetic services.
- Participates in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss individual plans of care.
- Prepares educational materials, and provides nutritional instruction to consumers and staff.
- Maintains records and prepares reports.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES
Knowledge of the principles and practices of dietetics and nutrition, and of food service systems management. Ability to complete nutritional assessments; develop recipes and plan menus; and interpret and follow doctors’ orders in the preparation of special diets. Ability to communicate effectively with staff and consumers.
ELIGIBILTY REQUIREMENTS
Possession of a current license to practice as a Dietitian in the State of Missouri.
DMH employees who have had a disciplinary action within the past 12 months will not be considered.
