Job Description:
Position work schedule is 9:00 a.m.- 5:30 p.m. Monday - Friday PLUS every 4th weekend.
Under general supervision performs para-professional work consisting of assisting with planning, coordinating, and implementing therapeutic activities; monitoring and documenting progress at a 24-hour.
State Veterans' facility. Assists in setting goals, participates in treatment team meetings as necessary; and may conduct activities within clearly established procedures; performs related work as assigned.
Requirements / Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications: Coursework/Training in recreation management, music, recreation therapy, occupational therapy, vocational rehabilitation or related field OR experience leading or conducting games, sports, or musical or other activities or assisting with providing therapy or related services
Other: Valid Driver's License. Must be at least 18 years of age.
Activity Assistant for a caseload of Members. Tasks will include but not limited to, assisting in conducting assessments, participating in care planning, assisting in developing and implementing an activity calendar, driving a 10-passenger bus or van to take Members on outings, and assisting with facility activities. Must be able to work independently with the following work schedule 9:00 a.m.- 5:30 p.m. Monday to Friday & every 4th weekend.
Knowledge of planning and conducting therapeutic activities; the fundamentals & rules of various games and related leisure activities for geriatric population. Ability to form effective therapeutic relationships with members and maintain member interest and participation in activities. Observe and document member behavior and participation.
