As An Administrative Specialist In The Child And Family Services Division, You'll Be Supporting Essential Programs For Nebraska Families With a Variety Of Tasks, Including
We're looking for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, and proactive, with a passion for making a difference in Nebraska communities. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently while supporting others, manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, and communicate effectively with staff, partners, and leadership. They will handle confidential information professionally, have a problem-solving mindset, and a drive to improve processes. Most importantly, the candidate should be motivated by the opportunity to make a direct impact on services for Nebraska families.
Requirements / Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: At least one year of post high school coursework or experience in: administration, office management, accounting, finance, planning, policy analysis and implementation, administrative/management analysis, operations research, program evaluation, research, or similar fields or in a field related to the programs or functions of the employing agency.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, social/behavioral sciences, or a related field, OR associate's degree in accounting, finance, statistics, business administration, social/behavioral sciences, or a related field, with two years of experience in contract and finance procedures. In the absence of a degree, candidates must have at least four years of relevant work experience.
Other: Some positions may require experience and/or training that is unique to the work assigned; a valid driver's license or the ability to provide independent authorized transportation; and/or criminal history background checks and other specific background check protocols for their agency.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Knowledge of: contract language, Medicaid and Child Welfare contract practices, and state and federal laws/regulations; record keeping methods and practices; administrative report preparation practices; research and administrative survey techniques; work planning and organizing; business computer and communication systems.
Skills: Requires experience in grants and contracts; Microsoft Office, email systems, and internet searches; ability to design/maintain databases and produce reports' strong organizational and communication skills. Must be detail oriented and able to follow written procedures accurately.
Ability to: interact with office staff and senior managers, employees, and the public to gain their cooperation and to establish work relationships; formulate and recommend modifications to operational directives to attain office and division goals; apply management practices, techniques, and methodologies to assigned activities; collect, assemble, and analyze facts and draw conclusions to recommend solutions to problems; identify and interpret program-administrative requirements, policies, and regulations to provide guidance and advice; organize and present facts and opinions to office team; learn the structure, functions, goals, and policies of the office.

As An Administrative Specialist In The Child And Family Services Division, You'll Be Supporting Essential Programs For Nebraska Families With a Variety Of Tasks, Including
- Priority Tasks: Manage urgent cases and assign tasks related to the completion of Letter of Agreement contracts. Draft policies and procedures and make revisions as regulations change. And monitor the program unit's compliance with rules/procedures and goals/objectives established by the manager/administrator.
- Legal Documents: Ensure proper handling and completion of service contracts with regard to established Medicaid and Child Welfare rules and regulations.
- Communication Liaison: Interpret and explain program/administrative policies, processes, and guidelines to internal and external entities.
- Staff Training: Designs work procedures and operations and provides initial and ongoing training to program-administrative staff.
- Administrative Support: Assist leadership with key administrative tasks to keep operations running smoothly.
