Job Description:
The Legal Assistant will perform various substantive and clerical duties including: (1) opening and maintaining electronic legal files, (2) with attorney supervision, preparing and electronically filing legal documents, (3) proofreading legal documents, (4) creating and assembling case-related materials, (4) helping attorneys get admitted to practice in courts around the country, (5) composing a variety of correspondence, (6) managing attorneys’ calendars, (7) communicating with others inside and outside the Department of Justice, (8) ensuring the effective delivery of outgoing mail, (9) managing attorneys’ continuing legal education requirements by ensuring that CLE recordkeeping and reporting requirements are met, (10) making out-of-town travel arrangements, and (11) performing other duties and completing other special projects as requested.
