Accounting monitors the Departments accounts. The bureau ensures all financial transactions are in compliance with state and federal laws. Audit monitors and reviews school district and charter school federal and state compliance laws, rules and regulations.
Why does the job exist?
The purpose of the ASD Accounting Supervisor Position is to assist the accounting staff in reconciling the SHARE general ledger, conduct federal reporting, and ensuring compliance with Federal guidelines and NM State laws, rules and regulations. Additionally, this position has oversight of daily cash deposits, daily and weekly federal cash draws, capital projects activity reconciliations, and annual federal and financial audits.
How does it get done?
This Job Position is responsible for leading an accounting team and producing timely and accurate SHARE General Ledger reconciliations on a daily, weekly and monthly-basis. This position will prepare, review and approve federal draw requests for accurate calculations and fund assignments. This position will need knowledge of preparing accurate general ledger journal entries for proper fund, account and project coding. This Job Position will promote, enhance and support a team working environment by assigning projects to staff and ensuring the staff are well informed and knowledgeable within the accounting processes and functions. The Job Position will ensure the federal guidelines and state laws and regulations are met, in order for management to make sound management decisions.

Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business Administration and six (6) years of directly related experience in budgeting, accounting, and/or auditing. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling ten (10) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico's Driver's License.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required. Some occasional travel is required for meetings and conferences.
