The Cannabis Control Division provides efficient licensing, compliance, and regulatory services to ensure the safe production, testing, sale, and consumption of commercial and medical cannabis by ensuring that licensed individuals are qualified to provide services in the cannabis industry. The Division issues licenses to cannabis producers, microbusiness producers, integrated microbusinesses, manufacturers, retailers, consumption areas, vertically integrated establishments, couriers, and testing and research laboratories. Additionally, the Division works in concert with the Department of Public Safety, Office of the State Engineer, Environment Department, other state agencies, tribes and pueblos to assist applicants to get licensed and assure compliance with all applicable state and local laws.

The Business Operations Specialist will serve as a Licensing Specialist and provide administrative support to the Cannabis Control Division's Licensing Manager and Licensing Team.

This position provides efficient licensing support and quality customer service. Duties include, but are not limited to: Customer Service; Cash Receipts, Records Management and Licensing Administration. Specific functions include:

Ideal Candidate

Minimum Qualification
Associate degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or Accounting and two (2) years of directly related job experience in the areas of office administration, budgeting, purchasing, finance, accounting, auditing, cash management, and/or contract management. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling four (4) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment Requirements
Incumbent must be able to successfully pass a background investigation. This position does not require supervision of employees.
Working Conditions
This position is office-based, involving extensive use of personal computers and phones, with prolonged periods of sitting. The selected candidate will work under stress and frequent time constraints.

- Review new and renewal license applications for completeness;
- Review applications and all documents submitted with the application with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy and prepare and send to applicant a deficient document notice;
- Approve applications that meet all requirements, and properly print and mail the official license;
- Handle difficult customer situations with diplomacy and in a professional manner in order to achieve a successful outcome.
