Public Information Office for NMSP prepares new releases, interviews, PSA videos, and other public information materials as a means of disseminating NMSP's message and image to the general public. The Media Relations Unit is also used for that same goal, however, members of this unit, work to develop graphics, create and edit video commercials for advertisement purposes, create and maintain NMSP's social media platforms, as well as enhance messaging and NMSP's public image.

To assist NMSP and DPS PIO and Media Relations Units with social media management support, database management, event coordination support, crisis communication support, documentation and archiving, scheduling, and with administrative tasks.
How does it get done?
Maintain and organize files, including press releases, social media assets, schedule meetings, coordinate interviews, answering phones, managing emails, processing invoices, and travel packets, ordering supplies and equipment, and provide clerical support In drafting emails, letters and other communications as needed, organize and update mailing lists, and assist in creating visuals or source images for social media, PR campaigns, publish posts across various social media platforms, research and
calendar important dates and track and report social media performance metrics.

Minimum Qualification
High School diploma or Equivalency and two (2) years of experience in office administration, budgeting, purchasing, finance, accounting, auditing, cash management, and/or contract management. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling two (2) years may substitute for the required experience.
Employment Requirements
Employment is subject to a pre-employment background investigation and fingerprinting in accordance with all terms and conditions of federal and state law, rules and regulations; and is conditional pending results. Continued employment is contingent upon remaining felony free, per Section 5.12.1.1 of the Criminal Justice Information Systems Security Policy.
In addition, the selected candidate must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a current Defensive Driving Certificate from the State of New Mexico; or pass and receive the Defensive Driving Certificate within six (6) months of date of hire.
Working Conditions
Most of the work will be in an office setting, however, there will be days where the work will be done outside the office.
