Posting Details
District Five is one of six districts of the New Mexico Department of Transportation. The boundaries of District Five include the following counties : Torrance, Santa Fe, Los Alamos, Rio Arriba, Taos, and San Juan. Employees in the District are responsible for providing the Maintenance, Construction, Engineering Support, and Business support measures of the Department to ensure the safety of the public as well as efficient highways.
This position is in located in the District Five Complex / Technical Support-Local Government Section.

Why does the job exist?
This position serves to provide support to the District Five Technical Support Engineer in the oversight of District 5 entities and with administration of State Funded grant process (Local Government projects).
How does it get done?
Incumbent will generate co-op agreements, review project proposal documents, monitor projects for various grants, perform field inspections, process payments and vouchering, audit project related documents, work closely with the project oversight division and daily contact with District 5 entities.
Who are the customers?
District 5 local government entities (County, City, Tribal, Schools, Towns, Villages) Project Oversight Division, and Department of Transportation employees.
Ideal Candidate
The Ideal Candidate will have experience in the following :
- Attention to detail
- Share financials (payment vouchering)
- Auditing experience
- Multitasking with the ability to meet deadlines
- Good communication skills
Minimum Qualification
High School diploma or Equivalency and two (2) years of experience in office administration, budgeting, purchasing, finance, accounting, auditing, cash management, and / or contract management. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and / or direct experience in this occupation totaling two (2) years may substitute for the required experience.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's license. Business reference check verification are also required, and employment is conditional pending results. Employment requires successful completion of post offer employment physical exam and is conditional pending results.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual / Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required.
