The Early Childhood Education and Care Department was established on July 1, 2020. The Department's aim is to create a more cohesive, equitable, and effective early childhood system in New Mexico. That means coordinating a continuum of programs from prenatal to five¿and ensuring that families in every corner of the state can access the services they need.
Interviews will be conducted within two weeks of closing date.
Why does the job exist?
The Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) Compliance Officer manages the compliance of a Federally funded United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Child Nutrition Program to ensure that children in the program are receiving nutritious meals at participating child care centers located state-wide. The CACFP Compliance Officer helps to ensure the participating institutions receive and properly expend the correct amount of reimbursement for costs incurred in the operation of the food service.
How does it get done?
The CACFP Compliance Officer reviews and monitors the initial and renewal application process from institutions that request to participate in the program. The CACFP Compliance Officer provides oversight and technical assistance of the Food Program operations by instructing, training, approving, evaluating and assisting the institutions of the program in which they are participating in and ensuring compliance with Federal regulations. The CACFP Compliance Officer will provide recommendations and feedback to the division and USDA on the levels of compliance observed and measured.

Minimum Qualification
High School Diploma or Equivalency and one (1) year of experience in investigations, regulation, policy, statutory, and/or contract compliance. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling one (1) year may substitute for the required experience.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive phone and personal computer usage. Some sitting, standing, bending, and reaching may be required. Direct client interaction and some statewide travel may be required.
