Why does the job exist?
The purpose of this position is to provide oversight and guidance in order to maintain the operations of Corrections Industries Program Activities. Corrections Industries provides the offender population the ability to program through learning valuable working skills and traits. This position will provide oversight and guidance to offender work crews while in the community and maintain work schedules, warehouse inventory and job assignments.
How does it get done?
- Organize and implement programs.
- Oversee and train workers in warehouse management, landscaping, construction, and any new jobs CI is tasked with.
- Train work crews to be proficient, professional, and respectful.
- Work with various state agencies while in the community

Minimum Qualification
High School Diploma or equivalency and one (1) year of experience as related to the essential duties of the
position.

Employment Requirements
This position is safety sensitive. Employment is subject to a pre-employment and random drug testing in accordance with all terms and conditions of federal and state rules and regulations regarding alcohol and/or drug testing. In addition, candidates must pass pre-employment Academy screening. Successful completion of the New Mexico Corrections Academy within one (1) year of hire required. Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License. The applicant must be a U.S. citizen, must be at least 18 years old, have at least a high school education or its equivalent, be of good moral character, have not been convicted of a felony in the courts of this or any state or in the federal courts, and successfully pass any physical and aptitude examination the department may require. Employment is subject to a pre-employment background investigation and is conditional pending results.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an adult prison environment, which includes daily contact with and supervision of inmates. Willingness to work in a correctional facility, may be required to work odd hours, overtime, holidays, and weekends.
